Either way you exercise total control over the caregiver, but with The Granddaughter you get the benefit of our nearly 70 years of experience in helping you to choose your caregiver! The Granddaughter does the initial screening, including reference and CORI checks. Our referral specialists are always ready to assist you in locating professional resources from which you can purchase payroll services and workers compensation insurance.
-
Before making a referral, we require all customers to countersign a customer engagement agreement via e-signature or hard copy.

No. The Granddaughter Network is a non-medical caregiver referral and care coordination network. We do not provide medical advice, medical care, or clinical supervision, and we do not hold an NPI number. Medical decisions and clinical oversight always remain with licensed medical professionals and the families who work with them.
-
Families contact our coordination team to share a few details about their needs, routines, and preferences. If it appears to be a fit, we gather more information and identify independent caregivers who may align with those needs. We help facilitate introductions and coordination support, while families and caregivers decide together whether to work together and arrange services directly.
-
Independent caregivers in our network may offer non-medical support such as recovery and rehabilitation assistance, mobility and daily living support, personal care routines, medication reminders, companionship and social engagement, appointment accompaniment, and respite support for family caregivers. Specific services depend on each caregiver’s experience and the arrangements they agree to with families.
-
Care arranged through our network is generally private pay, paid directly by families to the caregivers they work with. The Granddaughter Network does not bill insurance or Medicare, and we do not act as a payroll provider. In some cases, families may be able to seek reimbursement through long-term care insurance or other programs; we encourage you to speak with your insurer or a trusted advisor about what may apply.
-
Many caregivers in our network are able to accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social outings as part of their non-medical support, depending on their services and agreements with families. If transportation or accompaniment is important to you, please share that with our coordination team so we can take it into account when considering referrals.
-
No. Caregivers connected through our network are independent. The Granddaughter Network does not employ caregivers, does not act as a staffing agency or payroll provider, and does not supervise care inside the home. Caregivers maintain control over the services they offer, and families and caregivers decide together on schedules, services, supervision, and payment arrangements.

Massachusetts has important protections for domestic workers, temporary workers, and others providing services in private homes. We encourage families and caregivers to review the Massachusetts Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, Temporary Workers Right to Know Law, and independent contractor guidance, and to document their agreements in ways that reflect those protections—covering services, schedules, pay, and time off.
